Reaching Out
i met my mentee and her family on saturday :Dher name's cathleen and she's got a twin sister!
i did reading with her and found out that she had very weak reading ability and memory.
so both of us were having a hard time.
then she said she didn't wanna read anymore, so i did shading with her :)
i placed a piece of paper on the table and started shading.
the floral prints on the table appeared on the paper.
i thought she might have done this before or find it boring,
but she got really excited and happy!
its hard to believe kids get so happy about simple stuff like this.
but i was fascinated too when my cousin first taught me the same thing when i was young xD
her twin sister joined in too :)
i gave cathleen my piece since she said she wanted it and she can't do it well.
she hugged my 2 pieces of work and smiled.
i was given the title of superman -.-
hurhur, kids.
as i was about to leave, cathleen told her mum, "mummy, wo jin tian hen kai xin."
immediately i felt a tinge of happiness :)
things turned out better than i expected.
words can't express how i feel to have made someone's day.
its the first time im giving tuition.
i hope cathleen don't grow to hate tuition the way i did when i was young.
i would want her to see me as a friend or big sis rather than a tutor.
learning wld be much easier this way too.
i'll try my best to make lessons interesting and most importantly,
be her trusted friend and companion :)
